Lets talk hair loss in 2026

Anyone who’s has come to the salon in the past few months has had to deal with me talking about my upcoming mesh integration and hair replacement training. This has been on my vision board for alittle while now but late last year I knew it was time to make the jump. I’ve had a recurring conversation amongst my guests re hair loss. Be it from weight loss surgery, GLP-1s and other medications, or hormonal changes like post partum, perimenopause or menopause, this topic is recurring and somehow still somewhat taboo. All the while hair loss will affect 40%-50% of women in their lifetime, some for a season or a chapter of their lives, others more permanently. This is where hair replacement comes in…

In the last 3 months in particular I’ve had several new consults come in to discuss extension work, looking for hope and I’ve found myself in the circumstance where I’ve had to decline service knowing that extensions could cause additional damage or there is simply not enough hair to sustain a healthy bond or enough volume to cover and blend an anchor point. Not having an sustainable option or anything in my toolkit to help didn’t align with my spirit so in November I made the call and got myself booked in for hair replacement training.

If I’m going to go something it’s with my whole chest so right now I’m writing this in pseudo jetlag limbo as I’m currently on USA time as I’ve been studying virtually with CWC ( confidence with crowns) for my foundational mesh intergration skillset, with tomorrow beginning my advanced workload. Let me tell you this is not for the week. 30 days of pre training, including 10’s of hours of video information, practice mannequins, new potions, lotions, tools and fabrics.

What is mesh integration?

Mesh integration find itself somewhere between extensions and a hairpiece or wig. it’s a permanent solution that can be worn without breaks allowing the guest to get back living without fear of losing their wig or topper. Our model commented that she now goes jetskiing with her kids thats how secure she feels within her integration.

While Mesh integration itself is a generic term for the method but isn’t exactly an accessible name, and there is obviously a massive variety of quality in the marketplace. A brief explanation is much like weft we create a beaded foundation to distribute through out the head but instead of stitching to the natural hair we integrate a breathable lightweight mesh that is then stitched as opposed to the natural hair. While is it a permanent solution it does come with salon maintenance as wearers can expect a 4 weekly visit for a mini move up or a maintenance appointment to move up the beads and reset the system and depending on the colour of the unit ( as fairer shade tend to age sooner) the live expectancy is somewhere within the 6-9 month mark.

Why mesh?

This is truely a solution for anyone who is experiencing any kind of hair loss, where a traditional extension method is inappropriate. the weight is dispensed throughout the mesh allowing even distribution, no pressure points or pain. Allowing wearers to release any anxiety from day to day errands where being in public can feel taxing. i.e. going to the gym with a wig, last minute plans being changed or rushing to get ready, presenting at work ect.

I’m really excited to work towards offering this in future and continuing to support the women of Newcastle look and feel their best.
